Hand poured Bayberry Taper Candle
$10.00
Hand poured Bayberry Candle. All organic ingredients; bayberry wax, bees wax, and cotton wick.
The tradition of the Bayberry candle dates back to colonial times. The Bayberry shrub grows on the east coast of America. When settlers first arrived in the Americas, supplies were scarce. Candles were initially made out of the animal fat which is known as tallow. However these candles gave off a foul odor and burned quickly.
It was discovered that the bayberry fruit produces a greenish white colored waxlike substance. These candles lasted longer than the tallow candles. However, nine pounds of bayberry produced only one pound of wax. Due to the rarity the candles were only used during the darkest times of the year.
Thus a tradition was born to burn a candle on Yule Eve, Christmas Eve, or New years Eve. Burning the candle would bring a closer bond to families, attracted wealth, health and prosperity. It is recommended that when you burn your candle you allow the candle to burn out on its own in order to bring abundance and prosperity to you home.
Taper candle is approximately 3/4" in diameter and 4" tall with an approximate burn time of three to four hours. As the candles are all hand poured size may slightly vary by a few centimeters.
We only make the Bayberry candles during late Autumn.
